Not two but four from Gowda family may enter fray this elections

  • JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda had stated that except for Kumaraswamy and Revanna no one will contest from family
  • But Prajval’s mother Bhavani claimed that Prajval too will contest
  • JD(S) state president Kumaraswamy reacted sharply to this indicating all was not well in the party
Finally 4 from Deve Gowdas family may enter fray

JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and the Party’s State President HD Kumaraswamy have been insisting that only two from the family will contest the poll but the recent developments in the family seem to prove otherwise, reports Kannada Prabha.

Deve Gowda’s sons, current MLAs HD Kumaraswamy and HD Revanna will definitely be contesting. However, preparations are on in the side wing to field former MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy from Channapatna. Besides, Revanna’s son Prajval Revanna is also adamant to contest.

In support of this, Prajval’s mother Bhavani announced to media persons, on Monday, at Haradanahalli, Hasana district, that he will definitely contest the elections and that Deve Gowda has given him the green signal. “Deve Gowda will decide whether Prajval should contest from Belur in Hasan district or Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru after a survey. I will not make any comment about Anitha Kumaraswamy contesting, it is left to her. Finally, the elders in the family will decide,” she said.

Reacting sharply to this Kumaraswamy said who should contest the election will be decided shortly. “I, Revanna and Deve Gowda have stated regarding this on several occasions. Everybody in the party, including Prajval, who have put in effort will want to contest. If Deve Gowda has given the green signal for Prajval kindly go ask him,” he said, indicating the situation in the family. He also said all questions will be answered in time and there will not be any confusion with regard to selection of candidates.

Deve Gowda wants to field Prajval in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 as his successor but Prajval wants test waters in the State politics and he does not want to wait. He feels being an MP he cannot make a mark in the State politics and after some years in the State politics later he can enter Lok Sabha. In fact in the previous election itself he wanted to contest from Beluru but Deve Gowda had stopped him. He then started preparing the ground at KR Nagar in Mysuru district. But former minister H Vishvanath who defected from Congress will contest from KR Nagar on JD(S) ticket. Hence Prajval wants to contest from Rajarjeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru. He has also made ground work there. Some leaders from the party are also supporting him.
