1. The mysterious death of IAS officer, Anurag Tewari

The death of the young officer will certainly leave the government in deep embarrassment. Anurag Tewari, Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies Department, was found dead near a guest house at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, last month. Various reports had linked the death of the officer with the alleged scam in the department that the latter was about to expose. Although, the government has handed over the case to the CBI to silence the Opposition parties, it could do little to save it from the criticism.

2. Government's failure to tackle drought

Opposition party leaders Jagadish Shettar and KS Eshwarappa are learned to have gathered reports on government's failure to tackle drought in the state. Not to forget BJP state president Yeddyurappa's recent tour too where he visited drought-hit districts and interacted with the famers on drought relief measures. To counter, the state government too is preparing its ground with facts and figures to silence the Opposition parties.

3. Clean chit to former minister HY Meti in the sex CD scam

Congress veteran HY Meti was embroiled in a sex CD scam after he was seen with a woman. The CD had caused much embarrassment to chief minister Siddaramaiah forcing him to seek resignation from Meti. However, - as expected - the CID has given a clean chit to Meti. But this may cause further embarrassment to the government at the hands of Opposition parties. The BJP and JD(S) seem to have not taken light of the issue and are sure to corner the government.

4. NGT rap on Bellandur lake

Pollution in Bellandur lake, Varthur lake and Subrahmanyapura lake has become a headache for the state government. Despite the National Green Tribunal order, the state government is struggling to find a solution to clean the lakes. This would be a strong weapon for the Opposition parties to attack the government.

Besides, death of BJP/RSS leaders, rise in farmers' suicides and rampant sand mafia among other issues is expected to come up for discussion. Meanwhile, the session is expected to give an approval to various legislations prominent among them would be GST bill - which will be implemented by July 1 - and amendment to state commercial taxes law.
