Drunk engineering students riot in Kengeri cause Rs 50000 in damages

As per a report in the Bangalore Mirror, a gang of six engineering students got into a heated argument with the owner of their home they had been renting in 7 Stage, BEML Layout in Kengeri. The argument was about vacating the home, which the owner had demanded of them a short while earlier, apparently since she did not like their behaviour.

The angry students, all from North India as per the police, were allegedly drunk and went on a minor riot. They attacked the windows of the apartment complex and a parked motorcycle and car. As per the police report, the students broke several panels and also damaged the vehicles. The owner, a 59-year-old woman, then called the cops who registered the FIR.

Interestingly, soon after, the students seem to have settled things with the owner, convincing her to withdraw the complaint. The owner duly showed at the police station to do so, but the cops refused as a FIR had already been registered and the case was serious.

Speaking to Bangalore Mirror, they said - "All they did was (after) consuming alcohol for just Rs 1,000. However, they have spent nearly Rs 50,000 to pay the owners of the vehicles which they had damaged and also for repairing the glass panels. The accused had been taken into custody and their statements have been recorded,"

The case has been registered under IPC section 504 and IPC section 427 - breaching the peace and causing damage respectively
