A joint operation by State and Kerala police on a crusher in Channammana Palya, near Bidadi yielded a huge haul of explosives used for stone mining. In a store room of the crusher, 31 boxes of safety fuse, 9 boxes electric detonator, 9 boxes of gelatin, 250 boxes of black fuse wire and 250 kg ammonium nitrate were found. As soon as the police arrived, the owner Sriramu and dealer Srinivas escaped.

It can be recalled here that on July 6, a lorry carrying 4,700 kilos of gelatin sticks, 200 kilos of safety fuses and 4,700 kilos of ammonium nitrate (saltpetre) hidden under 100 kg onion was seized near Kerala border. The driver, cleaner and two more following in a car were arrested. Acting on the information given by the arrested, Sulthan Batheri Police contacted the Bidadi police and along with Kerala police conducted the raid, reports Kannada Prabha.
