So why are two Congress leaders fighting against their own party member? The issue started last year when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was to allocate the chairman post to various government bodies to MLAs who could be not accommodated into the cabinet.

It is said RV Devraj wanted a coveted post in the transport department and was upset that he was denied it. In anger he even questioned the leadership of few of the Bengaluru ministers. This had raised eyebrows of two big Congress leaders who have secretly been helping BJP's aspirant and businessman Uday Garudachar.

"Devraj is a senior leader and has won three times, he was twice Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation chairman, and in the present term, he was aspiring to become a minister, but he lost as other seniors leaders were preferred. However, when the chairmanship to various government bodies was being discussed, he wanted the KSRTC chairman post but he was denied. In anger, he irked few leaders by saying ‘You people are not the only leaders in Congress I have am eligible leader’," said a source.

This attitude of Devraj has not gone down well, especially with few ministers from Bengaluru and senior leaders in the Karnataka Pardesh Congress Committee. When asked about the simmering differences in the party and possible threat to his seat, RV Devraj said, “There is no other leader in the Chikpet Assembly who has over three decades of experience . I have no issues and no leader in Congress can sabotage my career as I have worked hard.”

Another source in the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee said, two seniors were upset during the meet last year that took place to decide on chairmanship. These leaders also have good equations with BJP and may spoil the chances for Devraj.

Meanwhile, a BJP source has confirmed that the party will filed businessman and Garuda mall owner Uday Garudachar from Chikpet.
