Congress tickets to all present MLAs and migrants Parameshwar

Winnability is the only criteria for allotting tickets in the forthcoming elections and all present MLAs will be given tickets. Ticket will also be given to those MLAs who are migrating from JDS into Congress, announced KPCC president Parameshwar.

Tickets will not be given to those MLAs who are facing a dissent wave in their constituency and have slim chances of winning, as found by the Central Election Committee. Barring such cases all present MLAs will be given tickets, he stated.

G Parameshwar, who is continuing as the KPCC president for the second term was speaking at a media interaction session, at the Press Club, on Sunday.

There are several MLAs from JDS who are eager to join Congress and they are capable. Such MLAs will be incorporated into the Party and will be given tickets to contest from Congress, he said. However, he declined to announce the names and number of those who are willing to shift to Congress. The Party is working on several plans to win in the forthcoming 2018 elections. The only consideration for allotting the tickets is winnability. All 124 MLAs will be recommended. However, the final decision lies with the Central Election Committee. During the 2013 elections all 65 MLAs who had won in the 2008 elections were recommended and 64 of them were given tickets, he said.

Siddu will be CM, if CLP suggests

There is a tradition of KPCC president becoming the Chief Minister. “I too had the same opinion in the previous election, but people rejected me. The call for a Dalit to become CM was not given out with an intension of me to become the CM.  Presently, Siddaramaiah is leading the elections and has handed over the presidentship to me. After the elections, the Congress legislative party will decide who should become the CM. If the legislative party choses Siddaramaiah to be the Chief Minister again, High Command will chose him to be the CM,” he explained.

Answering to a question if he was an aspirant for CM’s post, he said, as KPCC president he has to function under certain restrictions and hence does not have the freedom of certain expressions.

Elections in 2018 May-June

Yeddyurappa's prediction that we will have elections before 2018 is wrong. In case elections have to be conducted before the completion of terms, the Election Commission has to consult the government. “According to me, elections will be held in 2018 May -June” he said.

High Command will decide

He confirmed that he would contest in the 2018 Assembly elections. “Madhugiri, Koratagere are my Karma Bhumi. I had obtained 54,000 votes in the previous election. Hence, will try to contest from there. However, the final decision is left t the High Command. I will contest from whichever constituency suggested by the High Command” he said.
