Under The 'CM Anila Bhagya' new scheme, all BPL card holders in the State, who do not have gas connection, will be provided free gas connection along with stove. The scheme will come into existence by July 10, announced Food and Civil Supplies Minister UT Khader. Speaking at a press meet on Friday, at the Vikas Soudha, the Minister said, there are a total 1.31 crore BPL families in the State. Of them, 1.10 crore families already have gas connection. The rest 21 lakh families, who do not have the gas connection, will be supplied with free connection, along with a stove, reports Kannada Prabha.

All BPL card holders who do not have a gas connection should submit an application to the gram panchayats. Software will be provided to all GP offices, which detects if the applicant already has a connection or not. The result will be cross checked with the gas agencies. The Central government has already introduced a gas connection scheme Ujvala for 2.5 lakh beneficiaries, identified under the economically and socially backward sector. Only cylinder will be issued but stove not sanctioned. Beneficiary has to purchase the stove.

Under the CM Anila Bhagya gas connection, cylinder and stove will be given free to all 21 lakh BPL card holders who do not have gas connection. Minister U T Khader said the public can chose only one scheme and not both. They have to chose between Ujvala or CM Anila Bhagya.
