Pre-election survey puts Siddaramaiah-led Congress ahead of BJP and JD(S)

After BJP national president Amit Shah's visit to Karnataka, Saffron leaders may be working overtime to put the Congress government on the mat in the next elections, but here's a piece of news that may upset their strategies. For according to the C-fore pre-poll survey, Congress is expected to win the next Assembly election, hands down. It has predicted that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government may win 120-132 seats putting BJP and JD(S) in the second and third place, respectively.

The pre-poll survey was conducted ahead of the 2018 elections between July 19 and August 10. The pre-poll survey report claims that if the Assembly elections were held today, the party would win effortlessly.

While the survey predicts 120-132 seats for Congress, 60-72 seats for BJP and close to 30 seats for Deve Gowda led JD(S) party. According to the survey, Congress may get 43 per of the vote share, while BJP - 32 and JD(S) - 17!

As per the report, as many as 24,679 voters were interviewed from 165 assembly constituencies covering all districts using a structured questionnaire. The respondents were spread across 340 urban and 550 rural locations in the state. The Congress is expected to win more seats in the Old Mysore region pegging it to 41-43 seats, 21-23 seats in Hyderabad Karnataka, 16-18 seats in Bengaluru, 15-17 in Bombay Karnataka, 19-21 in Central Karnataka and in coastal Karnataka only 8-10 seats.

While it is predicted that BJP's more seats could come from Bombay-Karnataka region (21-23) and JD(S) is expected to win more seats (22-24) in Old Mysore region, giving good fight to the Congress.

According to the report, only 18 per cent of the voters are satisfied with the Congress government in the State and 46 per cent consider, Siddaramaiah as the most popular chief minister that the Karnataka has seen in the recent past.

Interestingly, 46 per cent of the people want Siddaramaiah to continue as the chief minister of Karnataka for another term. It is reported that Anna Bhagya, the chief minister's favourite scheme, has won the people's hearts and this has prompted them to give thumbs up for Siddaramaiah government.
