BJP plans bike rally Mangaluru Chalo

Ahead of the Mangaluru Chalo, BJP's bike rally, the Bengaluru police have arrested BJP leaders who had defied the city police orders to carry out the bike rally on Tuesday. The BJP leaders led by former deputy chief minister R Ashok, MP Shobha Karandlaje and others arrived at the Freedom Park from where the rally will take off to Mangaluru. The police are keeping a strict vigil at the Freedom Park and preventing the BJP leaders from taking out the rally. The police are guarding State BJP president BS Yeddyurappa's house and have reportedly asked him not to inaugurate the rally at the Freedom Park.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje condemned the state government for preventing them from taking out the rally. She also said that no power can stop the BJP from taking out the Mangaluru chalo bike rally and the party will take out the rally at any cost.

The BJP Yuva Morcha has planned a massive Managluru Chalo bike rally with over 10,000 bikes demanding banning PFI, KFD and SDPI, resignation of Ramanatha Rai alleging he is supporting them and handing over the killings of Hindu activists to CBI. Thousands of workers will start from Bengaluru, Hubli-Dharwad, Mysuru, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday and reach Mangaluru on Thursday - September 7. A convention is planned at Mangaluru with senior BJP leaders participating in it. With this rally, the BJP is launching its election campaign, reports Kannada Prabha.

It can be recalled that last month during his visit to State national BJP president Amit Shah had expressed his deep dissatisfaction towards the State Yuva Morcha. Immediately, after his return to Delhi, the bike rally 'Mangaluru Chalo' was planned. The Yuva Morcha is all charged to showcase its capabilities with this rally, reports Kannada Prabha. Party’s associate organising secretary BL Santosh has been given the responsibility of planning the Mangaluru Chalo rally. He held talks with Yuva Morcha office-bearers and finalised the programme.

However, to counter the BJP's bike rally, the Congress has also organised harmony rally on September 12. The Congress party will take out a padayathra from Farangipet to Mani in Dakshina Kannada district, said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai. He further said that intellectuals, writers and those who believe in religious harmony are welcome to the rally. But the rally will not entertain communal forces and organisations.
