Bengaluru pothole kills couple child escapes death by a whisker

A couple on a two-wheeler taking their daughter to the hospital were killed at 3.30 am on Tuesday.

Sagai Mary and Anthony Joseph were taking their granddaughter to a hospital when Antony tried to escape a huge pothole on the Mysuru Road near Sirsi Circle. Instead, he lost his balance, and all three fell on the road. A Tamil Nadu Transport bus which was speeding behind them ran over the couple, but the child escaped with minor injuries.

The driver of the bus fled the place. The Chickpet Police admitted the child to the Victoria Hospital, whereas Mary and Antony were declared brought dead by the hospital.

Sagai Mary, 53, and Antony Joseph, 55 are the residents of JJ Nagar. Their relatives have alleged that BBMP's negligence in maintaining the roads which has led to potholes on the roads is responsible for the death of Mary and Antony.

Speaking on the issue, Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj told that he would visit the family. He also told that the BBMP couldn't fix the roads due to heavy rains. He also said that over speed might be the reason of the motorist losing control.
