BDA shuns 3000 crore worth land 11000 acres turn a paradise for encroachers

The BDA had acquired thousands of acres of land from farmers and land owners for various purposes. But the acquired land now has become a paradise for encroachers. BDA has turned a blind eye as encroachers are constructing buildings, houses and those who have lost money have not got the compensation yet.

The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has created many layouts in the city. BDA has acquired thousands of acres of land from farmers and owners but even after years the land is not being put to use. The neglect of the officers lame to light when the documents were being checked.

According to the documents, out of the total land acquired the BDA has not used 11,533 acres of land in 56 layouts. The land is lying waste.

Meanwhile, many instances of people constructing houses and buildings in this land have been found. The survey has found that 2,34,322 houses have been constructed in the BDA land. If the land was used for the purpose it was acquired, the BDA would have got revenue of Rs 3,000 crore, say sources.

When the authorities concerned were asked about it, they told that the officers have been asked to submit the complete details of the acquired, used and misused land.

However, it is not clear if the BDA will demolish these houses or give the title deeds to the owners after collecting an amount fixed according to the market rates.
