S Ashwathi, the CEO of Zilla Panchayath announced these features presiding over the progress evaluating meeting of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan nodal officials at the ZP auditorium. It has been decided to reach the target in making the district 100 percent open defecation free by October 2. Hence all nodal officers should focus on the target. Special action plan has been formed to convince pregnant women and school children to persuade families to construct toilets, she said, reported Kannada Prabha.
There are over 15,600 expectant mothers in the district and all of them will be pursuaded to get toilets constructed at homes. Every pregnant woman who gets a toilet constructed at home will be felicitated by organising a Baby Shower - Seemantha - as a gift, she said. Action has been taken to pressurise the construction of the rest of 85,209 personal toilets. In the current month through a Special Abhiyan 200 toilets for every gram panchayath will be constructed under 233 villages totalling 46,600. The plan is being implemented at great speed, she said.
Not only the ZP officials but also the officials of all other departments are essential to reach the target. District level Nodal officers have been appointed at all 24 hoblis who will visit their respective hoblis and inspect the progress achieved and also persuade the public to construct toilets, she said. The target is to reach 100 percent success including construction materials, sand, bank account etc. Asha workers of Health Department and Anganwadi workers of Women and Child Welfare Department will create awareness among women. These workers will get an incentive of Rs 150 per toilet convinced, directly remitted to their bank account. Officials of respective departments will call a meeting of Asha and Anganwadi workers and provide information, she said.
