The first batch of 8 elephants that arrived were weighed and tested for strength. The 57 year old Arjuna weighed 5250 kg and topped. he elephants are tested for their strength to carry the golden howdah.
It is proved once again that Arjuna, the Dasara elephant is the toughest. Every time elephants are brought from the forest to City for Dasara, Arjuna proves to be the toughest, reported Kannada Prabha.

The first batch of 8 elephants that arrived were weighed and tested for strength on Friday. Arjuna weighed a massive 5250 kg and topped. The 8 elephants were weighed at the Sairam Electronic weighing machine at Dhanvantri Road.
The 57 year old Arjuna weighed 5250 kg followed by 59 year old Balarama weighing 4,990 kg, 51 year old Abhimanyu weighing 4,850 kg, 62 year old Gajendra weighing 4,600 kg, 17 year old Bheema weighing 3,410 kg, 61 year old Varalakshmi weighing 2,830 kg, 39 year old Kaveri weighing 2,820 kg and 60 year old Vijaya weighing 2,770 kg.
The elephants are tested for their strength to carry the golden howdah which is very heavy, for the entire Dasara procession.
