Was IAS officer Anurag Tewari who was found dead in Lucknow murdered? At least, the CBI has registered the case as the murder case. The premiere investigation agency has - in fact - re-registered the FIR which was earlier registered by the state police. While the CBI FIR will treat it as murder case, it however, will have the details of content and accused same, reports Kannada Prabha.

Anurag Tewari, commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies, was found dead by the side of the road in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on May 17, which was incidentally his birthday. He was 36. Various theories were being floated about the mysterious death of the officer, who was considered 'honest' by his colleagues. His family members had expressed suspicions about his death alleging that Anurag Tewari could have become the victim of "corrupt" officers. It may be recalled here that former IAS officer MN Vijay Kumar had also claimed that "corrupt bureaucrats" in the state were behind the death of IAS officer.

"Anurag Tewari was to expose Rs 150 crore scam in the Food and Civil Supplies Department. But the gang of corrupt senior bureaucrats could have dissuaded him from pursuing the case but in vain. This could be the reason behind his mysterious death," Vijaykumar had alleged. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies UT Khader had denied all these allegations and had stated that the government will extend all the support for the investigation. Tewari's parents had recently met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and minister UT Khader.

With the CBI registering Tewari's death as murder, it is sure to open the Pandora's Box in the Siddaramaiah government.
