Amit Shah to mediate between State RSS and BJP

BJP national president Amit Shah has taken the initiative to mediate between the State BJP and its mother outfit Rastriya Svayamsevak Sangha (RSS).  It is learnt that Amit Shah who will be arriving at State for a 3 days visit will get State BJP leaders and RSS to meet and mediate between the two, reported Kannada Prabha.

In the event the differences get sorted out, the State BJP will be infused with new strength which will help it to prepare for poll with vigour and it will be considered as a significant development said Party sources. In fact, in the agenda of Amit Shah’s meeting released to the media, this aspect was not mentioned and kept confidential.

It can be recalled that since one year the State BJP and RSS leaders are at loggerheads.  Earlier to this, the RSS leaders were readily offering comments and suggestions to all State BJP problems. They would hear all internal differences and resolve issues. BJP leaders were accepting the resolution by RSS leaders. It was usual for BJP leaders to consult RSS leaders before taking any decision. However, after B S Yeddyurappa was appointed as the State President of BJP, and the subsequent appointment of office bearers, cracks appeared between RSS and BJP relationship.

One of the reasons quoted for this was that Yeddyurappa did not consider the suggestions of RSS leaders during appointing office bearers, after which the RSS leaders distanced themselves from State BJP.  During the friction between Yeddyurappa and Eshwarappa also the RSS leaders maintained their silence.  Finally it was Amit Shah who called a peace meet and resolved the issue back then.

The significance of RSS in the history of State BJP is profound. RSS worked from behind the curtain to strengthen the Party. In fact, when the Gundlupet and Nanjangud by-election results were declared, one of the main reasons for BJP’s failure was attributed to the distancing of RSS from BJP.  This prompted even 2nd and 3rd level members to express that unless RSS and BJP resolve their differences it will be difficult to win in the forthcoming legislative assembly elections. Amit Shah must have taken note of it and must have decided to act to make peace between the two. The Party workers’ expectations are very high in this regard.
