The City received rain throughout the day on the last day of August recording an all-time high.  The record rain in August 19 years ago has been beaten by this year’s rain on the last day of August, reported Kannada Prabha.

The Metrological Department had recorded rain of 387.1 mm in August 1998.  It was the highest ever. This year in Aug till 27 the rain received stood at 345.5 mm. That meant to break the 19 year old record another 42 mm rain had to be received.

On Thursday the incessant rain all through the night is said to 50 mm. The Meteorological Department was not available to confirm it but as per information Bengaluru South and East received 20 mm rain at various localities and in some areas it stood at 50 mm. The rain already had matched the record of 10 years. On Thursday night, the last day of August if it is confirmed that the City received 50 mm rain then this year’s rain in August stands at an all time high.

In June and July the rains had receded. From Aug 15 to 30 a total of 320 mm rain was recorded. That again is another record of highest rain in 10 days.

It is predicted that rains will increase in coming days.
