Seer Sri Gavisiddeshwara Mahaswamy has organised a widow mass remarriage at the famous Sri Gavisiddeshwara fair at Uttara Karnataka.  This is the first time that such an initiative has been taken up at a religious fair, reported Kannada Prabha.

Women and Child Welfare Department officer Manjunath disclosed this to newspersons at a meeting at the DC’s office. The dates for the fair has been set as Jan 2, 3 and 4 and the mass widow remarriage will happen on one of these 3 days. The State Women’s Commission has appreciated the initiative. This is the first time in the State that such a program is organised at a religious fair.

Earlier in 2010 Sri Siddalinga Swamy of Tontadarya Mutt and Sri Gurusiddha Rajayongindra Swamy of Moorusavira mutt in Hubli had participated in a widow and widower mass remarriage organised by the Sri Limbayyaswamy Prathibha Prathisthana, where widows and widowers were invited to make their choice.
