Only 62 MLAs out of 224 attend the 5th day of Assembly Sessions. Leaders of Opposition take serious objection to large scale absenteeism of MLAs. The Speaker reads out the list of absentees in the Session.

The people’s representatives, who have to resolve the drought situation in the State, are conspicuous by their absence at the Assembly Sessions for the 5th consecutive day. The Speaker expressed his displeasure at it and read out the long list of MLAs absent, sending a message to them.

The monsoon session of the Assembly was engaged in serious debate over the long number of MLAs absent for the 5th day and hoped they would attend the rest of the 4 days at least. The MLAs who had to take part in the discussion on drought in their respective constituencies were found absent. Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar took serious objection to the absence of MLAs and questioned how they would help their constituency by being absent at Assembly Sessions.

On 8th June the presence at the Session was 62 MLAs of the total 224. Congress had 30 present, BJP 18, JD(S) 12 and 2 independents were present. On 9th it came down to 58. Congress 33, BJP 16, JD(S) 07 and 2 independents.

Not only MLAs the ministers were also conspicuous by their absence.
