8 CSIF threaten rape colleagues wife HC says punish them sexual assault

Eight CISF soldiers were accused of threatening and raping their colleague's wife in Bengaluru. Following a complaint, the eight jawans were suspended from service higher officials of the CISF. They appealed to the High Court, but HC too ordered that they deserved the punishment and upheld the officer's judgement.

Constables Vikas Verma, Anukar Punia, Pinku Kumar, Jitendra Singh, Yogendra, Vikas K Tiwari, Chandran Kumar and Rahul Diwakar were suspended from services following a complaint by CISF constable, whose wife was allegedly raped repeatedly by these eight men.

The High Court ruled that, if their punishment is reduced or they are released, it will send a wrong message to the people residing there. The people living there will always live with fear, stated justice Raghavendra Chowhan in his order copy.

The victim was residing in the CISF quarters, where the accused were staying too. When her husband was not at home, the first accused Vikas Verma entered the house and allegedly raped her. When he left the place, Ankur entered the house and threatened her he had seen Vikas having sex with her and told her that he would tell her husband about it. Despite her opposition, she was snubbed and raped. Then came Pinku followed by Jithendra, Yogendra, Vikas Tiwari, Chandan and Rahul who used the same threatening tactic and raped her repeatedly from June 6 to June 26.

When the husband came home, not able to bear the pain, she narrated the shocking incidents. Husband immediately approached the higher officers and lodged a complaint against the eight accused.

After the probe, the accused were suspended by the higher officials. But they had appealed to the High Court, which has now upheld higher officials suspension order to the accused.

The incident had occurred on June 6 in 2015, when Vikas Verma barged into the victim's house. Then, at night Anush and VK Tiwari made calls to the victim and threatened her about revealing her intimate relationship with Vikas if she doesn't cooperate with them and then raped her. In the later days, the other accused too used the same lines and raped her till her husband came home on June 26. On July 28, Vikas Verma again made a call to the victim at 11.30 PM, when her husband snatched the phone from her and listened to what Vikas had told.

Later, the victim explained to the husband in detail the pain and ordeal she had to go through. Following this, victim's husband complained to the higher officials and action was taken against the eight accused.
