The City police introduced a help line 1908 requesting public to help them identify and nab drug peddlers and the response has been very good. Based on calls made to the help line City police arrested eight persons in one day, including a foreigner, reported Kannada Prabha.
A Nigerian citizen Chakvu Godwin was arrested from Suddugunte Palya for bringing drugs from his country and selling it to students and 25 gm cocaine was seized from him. He had arrived in City three years ago in the pretext of textile merchant.
He was residing in a rented house at Medahalli on Hosakote Road. The help line got a call from locals that Godwin was selling drugs to students. For two days the police observed him and on Tuesday they raided his house and arrested him.
Tilak Nagar police arrested a gang of 4 drug peddlers who were bringing Ganja from Odisha by train and selling in City. Purna Chandranath alias Babloo, Suraj Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Kamalesh were arrested and 8 kg Ganja was seized from them.
Babloo would bring the Ganja from Odisha by train in gunny sack and get down at K R Puram. From there they would take it in a goods auto to a house in Mallasandra near Kengeri. They would make small packets of Ganja and sell to students through Kamalesh.
CCB police arrested one Asif alias Ataulla, resident of Valmiki Nagar in Chamarajapet when he was trying to sell Ganja at Gopalan Mall on Mysoru Road and another VIbesh alias Vibin when he was trying to sell Ganja near Geetha’s Herbal Parlour at Murugesh palya.
