The prestigious Forbes magazine has published, on Thursday, its Forbes India – 2017 list of top 100 rich in the country. For the 4th consecutive year Mukhesh Ambani of Reliance Industries has held on to his number one position as the richest man in India with Rs 2.5 lakh crore assets. The 7 Kannadigas who were listed in the previous list continue to be named in the list this year also, reported Kannada Prabha.
Azim Premji of Wipro Company stands at the second richest man in India with Rs 1.25 lakh crore assets. He has jumped up by two positions. In 2016, Premji was flourth position with Rs 98,000 crore assets. The other Kannadigas listed are B R Shetty, Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Ranjan Pai, N R Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishnan. B R Shetty was in 47th position last year with 16,000 crore assets and he has jumped to 34th position with Rs 20,000 crore.
Biocon’s Kiran Majundar Shah was in 65th position in 2016 with Rs 12,000 crore. This year her assets have jumped to Rs 14,000 crore but her position has slipped to 72. Likewise Ranjan Pai of Manipal Group was in 74th position with Rs 11,000 crore but this time has slipped to 80th position with Rs 12,500 crore.
Narayana Murthy of Infosys was in 62nd position last year with Rs 12,000 crore. This year he has retained the same assets but has slipped to 84th position. Nandan Nilekani was in 80th position last year with Rs 10,000 crore. This year he has slipped to 89th position but has gained with Rs 11,000 crore. S Gopalakrishnan of Infosys was in 81 st position last year with Rs 10,000 crore. This year he has retained the same assets but has slipped to 92nd position.
