The City witnessed grand celebration of Ganesha festival and public awareness about worshiping eco-friendly Ganeshas had definitely made an impact. On the first day of the festival thousands of Ganeshas were immersed at 36 designated ponds, including Sankey Tank, Hebbal Lake and Halasuru Lake, reported Kannada Prabha.

In one day as many as 22,000 Ganeshas were immersed in Sankey Tank. The PoP Ganeshas numbered 350. Though the BBMP had announced that after 10.30 pm immersion would not be allowed people were seen coming with Ganesha still 12 pm. 

Heavy rush was witnessed at other 36 tanks also for Ganesha immersion. BBMP had made arrangement for 257 mobile tankers and Pollution Control Board had made another 40 tankers for idol immersion. As a result, there were no untoward incidents reported.
