In a recent incident, a 20-year-old student in Bengaluru was alleged attacked and molested by a mob of 40 to 45 men on Ballari Road on March 19. The mob also beat up her friend. This incident reportedly happened on the service road on the highway near the Vidyasagar Cross at around 9 pm.

The victim and her friend on the night of the incident were riding a bike when a Honda Activa coming from the opposite direction without its headlights on stopped in front of them. When the Activa rider was told by the victim and her friend that he was riding on the wrong direction, the motorist got down, started abusing and took away the bike’s key forcibly, claimed the girl.

Then about 40 to 45 people suddenly gathered and hit the friend of the woman. The duo then somehow managed to snatch the key back from the assailant and fled from the spot.

According to a Times of India report, the Chikkajala police picked up more than 20 men on the next day and booked four among them after the victim identified the assailants though a Whatsapp video call.

On her FIR, the woman mentioned that she was being pushed and also touched inappropriately by the group of men.

However, two of the arrested persons have said that the group pushed the woman after she hurled abuses on them in Hindi and English language. They stated that while walking on the service lane they saw a woman standing and few men fighting. When they went to break out the fight the woman told them to mind their business, and this agitated the group, and they shouted at her and pushed her.
