15-year-old Kavya's death is still fresh in mind and here is another news of a 16-year-old girl found hanging in her hostel room in Kalaburagi.

Priyanka Basavaraja Mandravada, a tenth standard student of Morarji Desai Residential School in Kalaburagi district in Karnataka, was found hanging from the fan in her hostel room. She was hanging with the help of a veil. Priyanka is a resident of Shanthanagar in Jevargi.

The police have said that a suicide note was found near the body which said, "I am going to fall in a well and die, please do not search for my body."

But the parents have said that she cannot commit suicide and have alleged that it is a murder.

"She is not a kind of person who will end her life. The handwriting on the death note is not hers," her mother said.

The body has been taken to the postmortem to the government hospital, where students and many people have gathered. The hostl inmates have expressed shock over the incident.

A case in this regard has been filed in the Jevargi Police Station.

Morarji Desai Residential Schools provide free residential education from sixth to tenth standards to the students from minority communities. These are named after former prime minister of India Morarji Desai and are run by the Directorate of Minorities department of the Government of Karnataka.

There is a steep increase in the cases of death of school children. Though generalising that they have committed suicide or are killed is difficult, the rising numbers of students is a matter of concern.

On June 20, Kavya, a 15-year-old Badminton Champion from Alva's School was also found hanging from the fan in her hostel room. Recently a body of a medical student pursuing his MD in Father Muller's Medical College in Mangalore was found in his hostel room, throat slit.

These incidents are surely disturbing, and there is a need to bring out the truth about the incident and bring the guilty into books.
