100 Dalit families ostracised for a flimsy reason plan to commit mass suicide

While the entire State is celebrating Dasara 100 Dalit families in Basavana Bagewadi in Vijayapura are ostracised by ‘upper caste’ people for a flimsy reason, reported Kannada Prabha.

A circle in Matyala village was named after Basaveshwra, Ambedkar and Buddha.  But a saffron flag was hoisted there. When it was questioned why a saffron flag was hoisted the 100 Dalit families in the village were ostracised. They are banned from going to shops, temples, ration shops and even mills.  The electricity has been cut off to the entire Dalit colony.

The Dalits appealed to the DC but it fell on deaf ears. Hence they are planning a mass suicide in front of DC’s office.  Now, DC has to take a step and give justice to Dalits.
