The survey, conducted by Asianet News Network, showed 48 per cent of the people surveyed stating that they would vote for Yogi Adityanath in the state assembly elections.
The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are due to be held about seven months from now.
The survey, conducted to gauge the current mood of the electorate, showed that 36 per cent of those surveyed were keen on having Akhilesh Yadav as the next best option to lead the state. Mayawati and others poll a low 16 per cent.

The margin inched slightly close in Samajwadi Party's favour when people were explicitly asked who they thought was best to govern the state.
As you see above, while 48 per cent of people wanted to see Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in power, 40 per cent favoured Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in the state.Â
The survey shows how handling the law and order situation in the state has earned the Chief Minister good points. However, his government's handling of Covid-19 and the pandemic-triggered inflation could become major talking points in the 2022 election.

To recall what happened in the assembly elections 2017, the BJP had won 312 out of the 384 seats it had contested. As for the Samajwadi Party, which was trying to return to power then, it could manage to win just 47 of the 311 seats it contested. At the third spot, was BSP which won a mere 19 out of the 403 seats the party contested.
A closer look at the data emerging from the Asianet News Mood of the Voters survey indicates Yogi's popularity soars in the Awadh region (62%) and the Goraksh region (56%), which includes his Gorakhpur constituency.Â

In fact, Yogi Adityanath's popularity remains above the rest in the other regions of Brij (46%), Western UP (45%), Kashi (46%) and Kanpur-Bundelkhand (48%).

The survey data suggests that Yogi's closest rival, Akhilesh Yadav, enjoys 40 per cent support in the Goraksh region, followed by approval of 36 per cent voters each in Brij, Western Uttar Pradesh and Kashi.Â
Will Yogi Adityanath be able to replicate his 2017 success? For now, he clearly seems to be able to do so.
