Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday laid the foundation stone of the HP Ghosh Memorial Medical College in the Lalchhari area of Ambassa in Dhalai district. The HP Ghosh Memorial Foundation will build a 100-bed medical college on about 20 acres of land.
A Promise Fulfilled for Tribal Areas
He said that the state government has taken various steps for the development of Dhalai District Hospital and declared that a medical college will also be established here. "We had promised to set up a medical college in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council area. That promise is now being fulfilled," he said.
He added that the state government is running the state in a similar fashion as Prime Minister Modi is running the country. "A medical college will also be established here. If you try, you will succeed one day. The state government is also running the state in the same direction as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is running the country. The officials in the state are working on the path shown by the Prime Minister Modi," he said.
Decentralization and Socio-Economic Boost
The Chief Minister said that the state government is trying to ensure that everything is not centred on Agartala. "In addition to setting up a medical college in Ambassa, an Ayurvedic college is being set up in Tepania, Udaipur. If this medical college is set up in Ambassa, the surrounding conditions and socio-economic conditions of the place will improve greatly. Employment opportunities will be created for about 5,000 people directly and indirectly. The head of the college said that initiatives will also be taken to set up a paramedical college here in the future," said CM Saha.
Broader Development Initiatives in Tripura
The Chief Minister also presented information on the development of health infrastructure in the state. He said that a decision has been taken to set up a health university with the health institutions of the state.
The Chief Minister said that a business conclave was organised in Agartala a few days ago. Around 1,200 industrialists from the state and outside the state participated. "Many of them have expressed interest in investing in the industrial sector in the state. Tripura is now ranked second among the states in the North-East in terms of GSDP and also in terms of per capita income. NITI Aayog has declared Tripura as a front-runner state. This has been possible due to the successful implementation of the development-oriented agenda of the state government," he said.
Foundation Stone Ceremony and Attendees
The Chief Minister urged the local people to provide all necessary assistance to build this medical college.
Along with laying the foundation stone, the Chief Minister participated in the Bhoomi Puja ceremony of the medical college. The foundation stone-laying and Bhoomi Puja ceremony was attended by Dhalai Zila Parishad Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Manoj Kanti Deb, MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma, MLA Swapna Das Pal, MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, Health Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek HB, Bandhan Group Chairman Chandrashekhar Ghosh and HP Memorial Foundation Director Neelima Ghosh.
