The Central Government had announced that Aadhaar is compulsory for applying for driving license. Now it has gone a step ahead and will shortly announce that Aadhaar should be linked to driving license, reported Kannada Prabha.

Speaking at the Haryana Shrunga 2017, on Friday, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravishankar Prasad said. The Supreme Court is yet to pronounce its ruling on invasion of privacy by Aadhaar and it is expected by November. The Minister said that the government is planning to link Aadhaar with driving license. Talks are already held with Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Transport and it will soon be implemented.

The Central Government had on its agenda to link Aadhaar with driving license but it was not implemented. But there are several instances of people having two driving licenses. During accident or when license is seized they use the second license and continue to drive. To put an end to such irregularities it has been planned to link Aadhaar to driving license.
