21 kg silver swing installed for Lord Ram in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya to celebrate Shravan festival

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra said in Ayodhya; there is a tradition of Shravan Jhula Utsav. The post further explained that from Shravan Shukla Tritiya till Purnima, Bhagwan Shri Ram gives darshans on a 'jhula'.

To celebrate Shravan Jhula Utsav, a unique swing of 21 kilograms has been installed for Lord Ram in the Ram Janmbhoomi complex in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.  Taking to the micro-blogging site, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra said in Ayodhya; there is a tradition of Shravan Jhula Utsav. The post further explained that from Shravan Shukla Tritiya till Purnima, Bhagwan Shri Ram gives darshans on a 'jhula'.

This festival is held from the third day of the second half of the Shravan month. The idols from the temples are taken out in a grand procession while being placed on swings. However, the local administration ordered a partial closure of temples. It has also advised temple committees not to allow pilgrims to stay in shrine premises and barred bathing at the Saryu ghats. 

As per various media reports, pilgrims who have been visiting the holy city for the festival, their evacuation process has also started. According to a  district official, only those carrying a negative report issued over 24 hours would be allowed entry into the holy city. All the measures are being taken because of the threat posed by a possible third wave of coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, 27 new COVID cases and one death were reported in Uttar Pradesh. The new cases pushed the state's overall tally to 17,088,36, and the death toll in the state has surged to 22,776.
