This is one of those incidents where you can’t believe how it happened! Looking at the image it seems like that of a car in a metal scrap yard. Unfortunately, that was the result when a truck overloaded with salt fell on the Maruti Swift that was carrying 5 people. The incident happened at Jaipur’s Chomu House Circle.

Police said they discovered the car underneath the truck only after removing the heavier vehicle. “The car was badly flattened and it was hard to take the bodies out,” said Kamal Nayan, SHO of the accident police station (south).

Local papers reported how the accident had left the bodies mutilated beyond recognition. PinkCity Post reports how the body parts of the victims had to be literally scraped off the road with brooms. The truck was carrying 47 tonnes of salt against the permissible 27 tonnes. The accident was so gruesome that police were unaware that the car was occupied and only after they removed the salt sacks did they see the bloodie sight.

The police said the overloaded truck lost its balance leading to the freak mishap. The truck driver fled from the spot, but was caught in Agra. He was carrying salt to Agra from Navan in Rajasthan.

The accident happened at around 4 in the morning on Tuesday. Police said the truck was overloaded with sacks of salt. The deceased were identified as Rahul, Roshni, Roshni’s sister Jyoti, Roshni’s nephew Nitesh (19) and niece Avantika (18).

23-year-old Rahul Sharma, his fiancée Roshni Sharma and the others were travelling to see the sunrise at the Nahargarh hills.  Rahul was a budding jewellery designer training to take over his father’s jewellery business while Roshni was a fashion designer. The duo were engaged to be married in November this year. Sorrow descended on the two families who lost these young lives.
