Rajnath Singh to visit Pakistan to attend SAARC Meet

Rajnath Singh to visit Pakistan to attend SAARC Meet

Amid tension flaring up between India and Pakistan, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is going to be travel to Pakistan to attend the SAARC interior and home ministers’ conference on August 3-4.

This would be the first visit by a senior minister to Pakistan after the Pathankot terror attack and recent tension in Jammu and Kashmir following the killing of Hizb militant Burhan Wani.

This move to send Singh to Islamabad might be interpreted as Indias’ effort to continue dialogue process with its neighbour and in the region and also keep the SAARC mechanism working.

The conference, a two-day event, and it is expected that he might interact with senior Pakistani government officials on the sidelines.

Following Burhan’s killing, Pakistan has made direct and indirect attempts to provocate Kashmir by expressing their sympathies and solidarity.

In a recent statement, External Affairs Minister in a stern message had said that Pakistan would never be successful in annexing Kashmir, and it will always be a dream.

The latest visit will end all speculation on the possible visit by Singh to Pakistan.
