President Kovind appoints five new governors on Vijayadashami

President Kovind appoints five new governors on Vijayadashami

Five states of India have got new governors, and Tamil Nadu has got an independent governor after a gap of one year. President Ram Nath Kovind approved the list of new governors.

Accordingly, Banwarilal Purohit has been appointed the governor of Tamil Nadu. Brigadier (Retd) BD Mishra has been made the governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Ganga Prasad governor of Meghalaya. Professor Jagdish Mukhi will be the governor of Assam and Satyapal Malik governor of Bihar.

The governor's post in Bihar was vacant after Ram Nath Kovind was elected as the President of India. This post will be filled by Satya Pal Malik, who is a former MP and BJP's national vice president.

The Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao was handling the additional responsibility of Tamil Nadu for over a year. Now, Banwarilal Purohit will take charge as the Governor of Tamil Nadu without any additional responsibilities. 

Banwarilal Purohit was the governor of Assam. Jagdish Mukhi will take his place. However, Mukhi's post as the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar will be taken by Retired Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi.
