Solang: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Solang on October 3. During the public address, PM Modi said that the Atal tunnel will help draw tourists to Himachal Pradesh from all across the world.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jairam Thakur and Union minister Anurag Thakur also attended the public rally.

PM Modi added that the e tourism sector will also start getting back on track soon. He also spoke about the farm laws that were passed in Parliament last month. He said like the tunnel, this farm laws will help small farmers in the long run.

The PM also said that the present government’s reforms have troubled those who always worked for political benefits. Those opposing farm reforms had the same idea but lacked courage; they looked at elections, we look at country and farmers' welfare, the PM stated.

The tunnel will reduce the travel time between Manali and Keylong by 3-4 hours.  PM Modi said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid the foundation stone of the approach road of this tunnel in 2002. Till 2013-2014, progress was made only on 1,300 meters of this tunnel. After 2014, the project progressed with unprecedented pace.

After inaugurating the longest highway tunnel in the World, PM Modi said the tunnel will also strengthen the country’s border infrastructure.
