Man commits suicide at Kolkata metro station

A man tried to commit suicide at a metro station in Kolkata on Tuesday (November 3) afternoon. The incident has lead to disruption in train services.

A male passenger on Tuesday (November 3) tried to commit suicide at a metro station in West Bengal's Kolkata, leading disruption in train services.

The local train services have not resumed yet. On top of that, the passengers in the metro are in extreme distress due to this incident. The man attempted suicide at the Esplanade Metro Station on Tuesday afternoon. He tried to commit suicide by jumping on the metro line as soon as he entered the station.

To rescue the man, power supply was disconnected and the passengers present inside the metro train deboarded and the station was completely emptied. The metro was plying on routes from Kavi Subhash station to Maidan station and from Dumdum station to Girish Park station.

When the metro services resumed in Kolkata after the lockdown, passengers were asked to follow several guidelines. People have to use the e-pass to board the metro. Many people are facing difficulties in downloading the e-pass. Some of the passengers don’t have a smartphone or a computer to get access to e-pass.

Amid all these situations, the daily commuters of metro got angry over the news of the suicide. Despite such tight security, the metro authorities are investigating how this incident took place. After about an hour, the metro services were resumed.
