The deadly coronavirus is spreading like never before. Its tentacles have reached EM bypass in Kolkata. The slums near EM Bypass have witnessed two people display coronavirus symptoms. For precautionary measure, police have put the other slum dwellers in quarantine near EM Bypass. In all, a total of 15,000 people has been quarantined.

The case was reported from Shahid Smriti Colony of ward no 109. The council said, over 3,000 women from those slums work as domestic help in South Kolkata and areas near EM Bypass. A local who worked at a private hospital has been found with corona symptoms and was admitted to the same hospital. On Saturday she tested positive for coronavirus, and her family members were put in quarantine.

As people residing in slums do not live not very far from each other, the spread of the virus could occur very easily. Where social distancing is of the utmost importance during this pandemic situation, the administrative department informed the issue to a higher authority to take a call. District Governor of South 24 Parganas has said that a combat force has been deployed.
