Thiruvananthapuram: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team which is investigating the Kerala gold smuggling case took the accused Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair to Thiruvananthapuram for collection evidence, on Saturday (July 18).

The team first took Swapna to her flat at an apartment complex in Ambalamukku while Sandeep was taken to his residence opposite Swapna's flat.

The duo also was taken to a flat rented by them at Heather Towers near the Secretariat and other places where they had met.

According to reports, Swapna and Sandeep were taken to the spots separately by the team. Customs officials raided Sandeep’s shop Carbon Doctor at Nedumangad.

Swapna and Sandeep are among the four people booked by the central agency in connection with the smuggling of the gold.

The Kerala gold smuggling scam came to light after the Customs department seized 30 kg gold from an air cargo consignment from the UAE to the country’s consulate in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5.
