Karnataka to observe Kannada Kayaka Varsha till October 31 next year

Speaking on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava on Sunday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that the state would observe the period from November 1 to October 31 as Kannada Kayaka Varsha (Kannada Livelihood Year). The Karnataka government will announce a framework for the promotion of Kannada language shortly.

Bengaluru: The state of Karnataka will observe the next whole year as Kannada Kayaka Varsha or Kannada livelihood year till October 31, 2021.

The Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa made the announcement while participating in the 65th Kannada Rajyothsava function organised by the Department of Public Instruction and Samagra Shikshana Karnataka.

The event took place at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday morning.

“We are taking up constructive programmes to strengthen Kannada language and promote its usage in the present-day technology age. In this regard, Kannada Kayaka Varsha will be observed from today (Sunday) till October 31, 2021,” Chief Minister said, at the Karnataka Rajyotsava event in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka government will announce a framework for the promotion of Kannada language shortly.

Under this programme, special impetus will be provided to promote Kannada and strengthen Kannada language, the Chief Minister said. The government will also increase employment opportunities for Kannadigas in the state this year, he added.

The Chief Minister unfurled the state’s flag to mark the occasion and urged the people of the State to become Kannadigas for the whole year and continuously instead of celebrating the birth of the Karnataka State only during the month of November.
