Karnataka reports 3,156 fresh COVID-19 cases, 31 deaths on Thursday

Bengaluru: After reporting 3,377 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Karnataka on Thursday reported 3,156 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 8,38,929. The state reported 31 deaths, taking the death toll to 11,312.

According to the health department, as many as 5,723 persons were discharged on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,94,503. Of the remaining 33,095 active patients, 916 were being monitored in the ICU.

While the positivity rate for the day stood at 2.71%, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) touched 0.98%, the health department said in a bulletin.

Of the fresh cases, as many as 1,627 cases were from Bengaluru urban district alone. With nine deaths reported from Bengaluru, the toll in this district rose to 3,926.

Meanwhile, state Health Minister K Sudhakar said on Thursday that post-COVID care and rehabilitation centres would soon be set up in state-run hospitals in the 30 districts across Karnataka.

The state health department has also commissioned a study on re-infection in recovered patients across the state.
