Karnataka reports 2,960 new COVID-19 cases, 35 deaths on Friday

Karnataka on Thursday reported 3,156 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 8,38,929. The state reported 31 deaths, taking the death toll to 11,312.

Bengaluru: The COVID-19 tally in Karnataka rose to 8.41 lakh and the toll to 11,347 on Friday with the addition of 2,960 cases and 35 deaths.

Three districts reporting new positive cases in single digit. Haveri reported six cases, Gadag reported five cases and Bidar reported one case.

There were 33,319 active cases in the state after the discharge of 2,701 patients following recovery. As of November 6 evening, cumulatively 8,41,889 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 11,347 deaths and 7,97,204 discharges, the department said in a bulletin.

Meanwhile Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announced on Friday that due to COVID-19 bursting of firecrackers would not be allowed in the state.

However, the government has announced that only green crackers which cause no, or lesser air pollution can be used.

The ban on use of firecrackers comes at a time when the state had been recording more than 3,000 new COVID-19 cases on an average for more than a week now.
