Karnataka bypolls: 17.36% voter turnout till 12pm in the state

The bypolls at Rajarajeshwari Nagar in Bengaluru and Shira in Tumkur witnessed a voter turnout out of 14.44% and 23.63% till 12pm. The overall vote turnout in the state stands at 17.36%.

Bengaluru: The bypolls at Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) in Bengaluru and Shira in Tumkur witnessed a voter turnout out of 17.36% till 12pm.

While the voter turnout at RR Nagar stands at 14.44%, the voter turnout in Shira stands at 23.63% at 12pm according to the Election Commission of India.

The bypolls at RR Nagar and Shira witnessed low turnout till 9am. While RR Nagar recorded 6.27%, Shira recorded 8.25% on Tuesday morning.

Polling staff has made many arrangements including sanitising the booths, checking temperature, providing hand gloves to voters, keeping hand sanitisers etc. The voters were seen wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

So far, polling has been peaceful at both the constituencies. RR Nagar Congress candidate Kusuma, Sira's BJP candidate Dr Rajesh Gowda and his opponents Jayachandra and Ammajamma of the Congress and JD(S) were among the few early voters

Sandalwood actors like Amulya, Karunya Ram and Avinash were also among the early voters in the RR Nagara constituency.
