Journalist shot at in Bihar, assailant arrested

Pankaj Mishra, a reporter with the Hindi newspaper Rashtriya Sahara was shot at in Bihar's Arwal district.

This comes just two days after the cold-blooded murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh at her Bangalore home.

Pankaj was shot on his back by assailants who had come in two bikes. The incident occurred when Pankaj was leaving a bank and going back to his home. He is currently being treated at the PMCH hospital in Patna.

The journalist was carrying Rs 1 lakh in cash.

The police say that the motive was robbery. In fact the police have arrested one of the assailants.

The assailant, Kundan Mahto has been arrested. His accomplice Ambika Mahto is on the run, the police said. Efforts are on to arrest him, the police said.
