Gumla (Jharkhand): One person died and three others sustained injuries during firing by the security personnel outside a polling booth in Jharkhand on Saturday (December 7), said Vishnu Dev Chaudhary, police in-charge, Sisai, Gumla district.

Police resorted to firing after a minor clash broke out between them and the locals outside booth number 36 of Sisai constituency in Gumla where polling for the second phase of Assembly election is underway. The problem began when people got angry due to the delay in voting.

A local journalist was also injured in the clash and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Gumla.

Election for 20 Assemblies are being held in Jharkhand today.

Chief minister Raghubar Das, Assembly speaker Dinesh Oraon, former minister Saryu Roy, BJP state president Laxman Gilua are the key contestants in the second phase of election.

Sixteen of the 20 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and one for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

A total of 260 candidates including 29 women are contesting in the Assembly election.

The Assembly election is being held in Jharkhand in five phases. The results will be declared on December 23.

BJP and JVM parties are contesting in all 20 constituencies while JMM in 14 constituencies, AJSU in 12 constituencies and the Congress in six seats.
