Indian Navy gets INSV Tarini to be sailed by all-women crew

Recently, the Indian Navy inducted its second sail boat named INSV Tarini and it will be sailed by an all-women crew. This induction ceremony was attended by Admiral Sunil Lanba, the Chief of Naval Staff and other senior Naval Officers who wished the boat and her crew success in their endeavours. 

The INSV Tarini slated to be the platform for First Indian All Women Circumnavigation of the Globe expedition of the Indian Navy. The Admiral also disclosed that this extremely challenging expedition is slated to begin in August 2017. 

Admiral Lanba also spoke about the women crew and said that this team has logged more than 10,000 nautical miles on the INSV Mhadei that includes a voyage to Mauritius from India and back, Goa to Cape Town in rough conditions. 

INSV Tarini will be skippered by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, and the other members of this all-women crew are Lieutenant Commander Pratibha Jamwal, Lieutenant Patarapalli Swathi, Lieutenant Aishwarya Boddapati, Lieutenant Sh Vijaya Devi and Lieutenant Payal Gupta.

The induction of this INSV Tarini and the first Indian all-women circumnavigation of the world are not efforts to promote sailing activities but also uncourageous for women empowerment in Indian Navy. The all-women sail boat is an example that there is no limit of women’s achievement, be it on land or over water.

These women are role models for all the women across the globe and prove that all places are safe and no one can stop anyone from sailing towards the newer horizon in life.
