According to Raj Bhavan, Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari has asked Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to allow Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami's family to see him and to speak to him.
Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari has spoken to to Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and conveyed to him his concern over the security and health of Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami.
According to Raj Bhavan, the Governor has also asked the Home Minister to allow Arnab Goswami's family to see him and to speak to him.
Governor Koshyari had earlier conveyed his concern over the manner of arrest of Arnab Goswami to the State Home Minister.
The Governor's action comes a day after the Arnab's wife and Republic TV Senior Executive Editor Samyabrata Ray Goswami raised concerns about his safety.
Ina statement, Samyabrata said: "With Arnab publicly disclosing threat to his life and atrocities faced in custody, law & order officers, the state & national machinery will be held responsible if any harm is inflicted upon my husband."
The channel had on Sunday aired a video clip which showed Arnab Goswami -- while being taken to jail -- alleging that he was assaulted at the quarantine centre and there was a threat to his life.
"I am not allowed to speak to my lawyers. My life is under threat. I was pushed and assaulted this morning. At 6 o’clock, they woke me up and said they will not let me speak to the lawyers. Please tell the people of the country, my life is under threat. My life is in danger, please tell the courts to help me. Tell the court that I have been beaten in jail," he claimed in the video.
