Fire at iconic RK Studio in Mumbai [Video]

The iconic RK studio of Mumbai has caught fire, and six fire tenders and five water tankers are trying to douse the flames.

Reports said it is a level two fire at RK Studio in Chembur and the fire was confined to the electric wiring, electric installation, and decoration equipment on the ground floor.

 

 

R.K. Films and Studios was founded in 1948 by Raj Kapoor. Aag in 1948 was the first film to be filmed in the Studios and released under the RK Films banner.

These movies are connected with RK Studio through its banner RK Films.

Barsaat (1949). Awaara (1951), Boot Polish, Jagte Raho and Shri 420  Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby(1973), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Prem Rog (1982) and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985), In the 1970s, Randhir Kapoor joined his father at the studio, and made his acting and directorial debut with Kal Aaj Aur Kal in 1971. When Raj Kapoor died in 1988, Randhir took over the studio.

Recently, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali shot some portions of his upcoming movie ‘The Ring’ (working title) starring Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan at the iconic RK Studios in Mumbai.
