Coronavirus: Spike of 69,878 cases in 24 hours; India's tally mounts to 29,75,702
The COVID-19 tally in the country rose to 29,75,702 including 6,97,330 active cases
New Delhi: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in the last 24 hours, coronavirus cases saw a spike of 69,878.
22,22,578 patients were cured/discharged/migrated and 55,794 deaths have been reported so far, the ministry stated.
Indian Council of Medical Research said the total samples tested up to August 21 is 3,44,91,073 including 10,23,836 samples tested yesterday.
The Ministry added that India crossed the milestone of 1 million COVID-19 tests in a day. More than 10 lakh people tested in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health.

On August 21, the WHO chief said that he hopes that the world can finish the coronavirus pandemic in less than two years. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the statement while answering questions about the comparison between the last century's Spanish flu, and the novel coronavirus afflicting the world at a webinar.
