Congress leaders praised Rahul Gandhi's 7.5-hour sit-in at Parliament Street Police Station, which successfully forced Delhi Police to register an FIR for pellet gun shelling victim Sahil Lochav, who had sustained multiple injuries.

Congress leaders on Friday lauded Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his "determination and resolve" to get FIR registered on compliant of pellet gun shelling victim Sahil Lochav and said he remained at the Parliament Street Police Station for over seven hours for the purpose.

'Jhukti Hai Duniya...': Congress Hails Rahul's Resolve

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the delay in registering the FIR exposed the authorities. "The fact that a process which should have taken mere minutes was delayed for so long exposes their own failure; these are people adept at making a mountain out of a molehill. Rahul Gandhi's stance, his determination, and his unwavering resolve--along with the support received from the victims--ultimately led to his victory," Chowdhury said.

Congress leaders Salman Khurshid rejected BJP's allegations against Rahul Gandhi. "The FIR has been registered. We have nothing to do with what others (BJP) say. They are talking nonsense," Khurshid said.

Shrinate said Rahul Gandhi remained at the spot for 7.5 hours until the FIR was registered. "Jhukti hai duniya, jhukane wala chahiye. LoP Rahul Gandhi kept sitting for 7.5 hours and until the FIR was registered, he did not move from there," Shrinate said.

The party said Delhi Police was brought to its knees for delay in filing FIR. "In the end, they had to register the FIR....they say it right-- the world bends, but it takes someone to make it bend," it said in a post on X.

Delhi Police Registers FIR Under BNS

Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR in connection with the pellet gun injury case under Sections 118 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The case was registered followed a sit-in protest by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanding an FIR over the complaint by pellet gun shelling victim Sahil Lochav.

The victim had said that FIR had not been lodged over his complaint. Sources had earlier said that the complaint is being examined to determine whether a new case can be registered in accordance with the Supreme Court's order. Section 118 of the BNS deals with voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, while Section 125 deals with acts endangering the life or personal safety of others.

Rahul Gandhi Details Victim's Injuries

Rahul Gandhi reached Parliament Street police station earlier on Friday and was joined by several party leaders including his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

"Pellet gun was used at Connaught Place on 20th July. AIIMS report clearly says that there are more than 200 shells inside his body and 3 in his eye. He has lost vision in that eye. There are shells near his heart that cannot be touched. Delhi Police say they did not fire pellet guns. So, there is just one question: someone must have done it...A crime has indeed happened," Rahul Gandhi said. (ANI)
