The Octogenarian was found lying amidst a pool of blood A plastic bottle was inserted into her private parts Police has no clue about the reason for the heinous act or the persons involved in it

It is shocking that even after protests all over the country, a Nirbhaya-like incident has been repeated and an octogenarian has been brutally murdered.
According to Times of India report, the doctors found a Harpic toilet cleaning bottle inserted into the anal cavity of the elderly victim. This ruptured the anus and had damaged the intestines too. Excessive bleeding is said to have choked the lungs, which might have resulted in her death.
So far, the doctors have not found any proof of rape, but will be testing her swab to find out if the victim was subjected to sexual abuse.
The victim was a mother of a small-time farmer Jai Bhagwan and was living in the ground floor of the house and the first floor was occupied by her son and his family.
Son was the first one to see the body in the morning. When he entered the house, he found the mother on a bed covered inside the quilt. When he removed the quilt, there was blood all over. Shocked by this, he informed the neighbours and immediately made arrangements to inform the police as she was found dead.
The medical board which conducted the autopsy said that the brutality was beyond imagination. Dr Sumit Kaushal, who conducted the autopsy said, “You won’t believe what I saw. Imagine the pain the victim must have gone through,” reported Times of India.
A case in this regard has been filed at the Sonipat Sadar Police Station.
After Nirbhaya case, this is the third such incident reported in North India and the second one in Haryana itself. On February 4 in 2015, mutilated body of a 28-year-old woman from Nepal was found. The woman was undergoing treatment for depression at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. The girl had gone missing from February 1. The autopsy had confirmed that pieces of condoms and a stick were found inside her private parts and her head was bashed.
What has happened to the countrymen? Cases of molesting, assaulting, rape and brutal sexual abuse are on the rise. Was the 80-year-old lady wearing revealing clothes or was she out on the streets partying hard?
It is not about the dress and nor even about the age. It is the sick mentality which has to be set right. Has the low ratio of accused being executed or sentenced severely in rape cases given the boost to men for such heinous acts?
Enough of dilly-dallying, there is a need for a hard-hitting law and stricter punishment for those found guilty of rape and sexual abuse.
