Bengaluru: Notorious robber wanted in 16 cases stabs police, gets shot


The Bengaluru Police had the task of nabbing notorious robber Darshan, who has 16 robbery cases filed against him along with a POCSO case. He is known for stabbing his victim after mugging. He was shot at after he attacked a police constable. With his arrest, the North Division Police now breathes a sigh of relief.

A habitual offender wanted in 16 robbery cases was shot at after he attacked an on-duty policeman early on Tuesday in Bengaluru.

According to police, 22-year-old Darshan accused even in a POCSO case in 2018 used to stab his victims after mugging them.
On Tuesday early morning, he was on the prowl in his Honda Activa bike in Chikkabanavara on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

He thought he can have a field day after mugging his victim. Within minutes, the message on police wireless system flashed that a person on a Honda Activa has robbed a victim, who was on a morning walk.

The RMC Yard Police, which had registered a case of a private employee having lost his scooter, money and phone, was on alert and immediately reached the spot and searched the area. On seeing the police, Darshan started fleeing, despite warnings from the police. In an attempt to escape, he attacked constable Munikrishna.

To overpower the accused and in the act of self-defence, the police opened fire and shot him. Injured Darshan and the constable, both were rushed to the private hospital and are said to be out of danger.

The police say Darshan, a native of Hassan was residing in Bagalgunte in Bengaluru North, and had created panic with his notorious act in the last few years.

With his arrest, the police say they can breathe a sigh of relief as women and working professionals who complained about this notorious robber has finally been caught.
