Oscar award winner and world-renowned musician AR Rahman is set to enthral UN diplomats when he performs at the UN General Assembly on Indian Independence day.

The music maestro is likely to sing “Vande Mataram” and “Jai Ho” to mark India’s 70th Independence Day on August 15, according to reports.
This is the second time this year that Indian’s soft power was on display at the UN.
Earlier the UN’s New York headquarter was lit up with Yoga postures to mark World Yoga Day on June 21.
It is reported that Rehman might include Rabindranath Tagore’s “Where the mind is without fear” poem to his playlist.
Rahman would be the second Indian musician to perform at the UN. Carnatic vocalist MS Subbulakshmi had performed at the UN 50 years ago.
